### Definition

The skill of converting an operational metric into a dollar consequence or margin implication — bridging the gap between "Our on-time rate dropped two points" and "This corresponds to approximately $\[X\] in estimated revenue at risk from customer churn."

An operations leader who can only present metrics to finance in operational terms will always need a translator between the board table and the operational function. 

Finance-operations translation eliminates that dependency and makes operational decisions directly accessible to non-operational stakeholders.
