### Definition

The match between a tool's design assumptions — its intended user type, workflow model, and interface complexity, and the actual team members who will use it and the operational workflows they need it to support.

A tool that's technically capable of solving a problem will still fail if it doesn't fit the audience using it. 

Most technology adoption failures trace back not to feature gaps but to audience mismatches — a technically complex tool selected for a team without that comfort level or a simplistic tool selected for a workflow requiring sophisticated configuration.

- A tool was selected primarily for its technical capabilities without a formal assessment of the team's technical comfort level.
- A tool is being used by less than 50% of its licensed seats within three months of deployment.
- A recent tool selection was challenged by someone who noted "the team will never use this."

- Pick your least-adopted tool.
- Check usage rate against licensed seats.
- If the active usage rate is below 50%, it signals an audience-fit problem, not a feature problem.
