Definition

A structured annual assessment of operational metrics, processes, and vendor relationships — not a calendar-driven check-in, but a deliberate evaluation of whether what's being measured is still the right thing to measure.

Most companies run annual reviews that confirm existing metrics rather than questioning them. A proper annual operations review treats metric validity, benchmark currency, and vendor performance as items that need active revalidation, not passive reporting.
