Definition
A test-then-scale methodology for new tools or processes running a defined 30-day pilot with specific success criteria and a documented report before full deployment, rather than adopting any new operational element without validated evidence of performance.
Most tool and process failures in growing operations were never tested at a small scale before full deployment.
The pilot-and-report approach converts a potentially expensive mistake into a low-cost experiment, and the report requirement forces the success criteria to be defined before the test, not after.

- A tool was deployed company-wide before a small-scale test confirmed it worked as expected.
- No defined success criteria exist for evaluating whether a current operational experiment has worked.
- A new process was implemented broadly before being tested by a subset of the team.
