ERP Readiness Assessment
This page explains ERP Readiness Assessment and its relevance to business operations.
D06 - Technology Coherence
Definition
A structured evaluation confirming that six organizational conditions — chart of accounts alignment, vendor master quality, data migration plan, process documentation, internal ownership, and a realistic cost budget, are all in place before ERP vendor selection begins.
Starting an ERP selection without satisfying all six conditions doesn't shorten the implementation. It extends the implementation by discovering the gaps under time and cost pressure rather than before them. The assessment is cheaper before selecting the ERP vendor than during the selection.
Indicators
- An ERP evaluation is underway, and no readiness assessment has been formally completed.
- You could not confirm, today, that your vendor master has fewer records than active vendor relationships.
- No named internal implementation owner exists for a potential ERP project.
Quick Win
- Pull your vendor master list.
- Count the number of records.
- Compare against your actual number of active vendor relationships.
- A large gap means duplicate or dead records, and you're not ready yet.
